Cathy Alexander, Director

Cathy Alexander has over 24 years of leadership and project management experience providing supply chain, logistics, and performance based management expertise to private industry, and Federal and State governments. Cathy is an experienced logistics professional with proficiency in the areas of inventory management and control, resource management, customer relations, strategic planning, change management and performance based asset management. With her robust background in human operating systems and communication skills, Cathy has directed teams which provide management support to Department of Transportation (DOT) maintenance and asset management efforts. Ms. Alexander’s previous experience as a Naval Logistics Officer makes her well experienced in logistics operations and task management.

Cathy provides analytical support to the Director, Supply, Ordnance and Logistics Operations Division (OPNAV N41). Primarily focused on Joint Logistics, she is assisting in developing the Navy’s strategy for Joint Logistics, Navy – Coast Guard Logistics Integration efforts, assisting in coordinating the Navy and Defense Process Owner engagement strategy  and Navy priority focus areas in that strategy. Most recently, she served as a Senior Analyst for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) where she served a key role in developing an asset preservation, engineering and management performance based support contract for the DC Department of Transportation. Prior to that, Ms. Alexander directed two multi million dollar big-box retail operations in Minneapolis, MN and Detroit, MI. She was responsible for associate productivity, increased sales, and expert inventory control, while reducing operational costs. She supervised 95 associates and managers and worked closely with upper management to improve operations.

During her twenty-year US Navy career, Cathy served in a variety of challenging supply chain management, IT, training, and administrative leadership positions, including Team Leader Shore Systems Support Group, Naval Supply Systems Command, and Chief, Maintenance Management and Training, Air Mobility Command where she spearheaded a Navy-wide project to reduce logistics applications by 40% for a potential savings of over $2M. While at headquarters, she also served as the liaison for nine field supply activities in the areas of strategic planning and systems integration, where she led a logistics systems support group, responsible for systems and project decisions that supported the orderly transition from Navy-wide legacy systems to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Cathy also served as Customer Operations Department Head, Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Norfolk, where she guided a customer support department of 52 people directly responsible for assisting and supporting the logistics departments of over 70 ships. Additional Navy assignments included: Executive Assistant to the Rear Admiral Vice Commander, Naval Supply Systems Command; Supply Department Head of a 48 person department aboard a Guided Missile Cruiser; Stock and inventory control officer and assistant Department Head of a 125 person Supply Department; and exceptional instructor of over 125 new Supply Corps Officers in food service and retail operations

Cathy received her BS in Political Science from the US Naval Academy, an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
